Comments from
Colleague Mike Meyer:
Carol has an
enthusiasm for life that permeates all that she does. It is not
uncommon to hear Carol lead a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" (by
the way, it has to be in 4 part harmony) to a fellow faculty member in
the lunch room. Carol has been seen falling on the floor in the middle
of the guidance center and shake with disbelief when a senior has
finally turned in a college application or literally scream in ecstasy
when a student notifies her that he's won a scholarship.
Carol's concern
for students is well known throughout St. Xavier high school. She will
spend as much time with a student as he wants working on college essays,
study skills, or mental health issues. Carol has a never ending
enthusiasm for helping students be successful.
Carol has a drive
to impact not just students, but also the parents. Over the past
several years, Carol has been the moderator of the school's Parent
Network. She organizes meetings, holds panel discussions, brings in
speakers, and has even "convinced" students to serve as panelists to
talk to parents about what is really going on in their lives. Carol
does this, in an effort to help parents raise their sons successfully.
