To all members of Greater Cincinnati Counseling Association: I am introducing myself as this year’s GCCA President. This year’s events include the Winter Workshop on January 7 and 8, 2011 at the Gallagher Center of Xavier University. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Barent Walsh, addressing the issue of self-injury. Please come to this worthwhile and interesting workshop. Our second event is in April involving Counselor Appreciation Month. Also, please visit GCCA’s website at www.cincycounseling.com. Board Meetings
We are currently planning to meet at the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati for our open meetings and board meetings this year. The location of our metings may change in the near future, however. Please check the events page for the most current information. You can find additional information about our open meetings on our web site.
You may review our meeting minutes at any time from our web site. All current GCCA members are welcome to attend Executive Board meetings. Please contact our current president in advance so we can plan appropriately for the number of people at the meeting. Open meetings are open to members, their guests and students enrolled in counselor education programs. All others are charged a minimal fee to attend open meetings.
Counselor Awareness, Awards and Recognition
As a part of our effort to increase awareness of our profession and acknowledge the work of counselors in our schools and community, the GCCA presents yearly counseling awards and recognition awards to exemplary counseling students and professional counselors. This is done twice a year.
Our recognition event, is hosted in the month of April, which has been designated as counselor awareness month. Please see the counselor recognition and nomination page for additional information about this event.
At our yearly Winter Workshop, the GCCA also presents the winners of the Marvin Rammelsberg School Counseling Award and the Mary Corre Foster Community Counseling Award. Click here to read about our previous recipients or nominate a counselor for this honor.
Elections
GCCA holds elections for new officers during the early summer of each year. You can find a list of the individuals elected to Executive Office and the Board of Directors on the About Us page.
Visitors
If you are not already a member, please join the Ohio Counseling Association today. There is no additional fee to join your local chapter, the Greater Cincinnati Counseling Association (GCCA). Download the membership form available in pdf format on the home page of this website. Membership in specialty divisions such as OSCA and the Ohio Mental Health Counselors Association is available for an additional fee. OCA works for you in the Ohio State Legislature by using membership dollars to hire legislative lobbyists to guard Ohio counselor interests. Do not take your license for granted! Join OCA and help promote the profession of counseling in Ohio!
